Tired of Waiting?

I know, I know you keep checking in on our blog hoping, just HOPING that one day someone will break down and write something clever and informative. Well, today probably isn't that day, but I personally am sick of seeing the phrase "I'm Trapped" everytime I check the blog. MJ is really slacking in this area of her life, although I must admit she has been pretty busy fixing broken sprinkler vales, painting the house, entertaining nieces and nephews in every way possible, and keeping us from starving by going to the grocery store when Jac's too tired.

There is alot happening with wonderful news of a new baby coming next month and getting to see the Las Vegas relatives with all the cousins, aunts and uncles on a larger than life 24th of July. We are pumped and pulling out all the stops so that everyone will have the best 24th EVER! Now watch, it will rain or something and they'll cancel the festivities and fireworks...that would be our luck. But we will prevail no matter what happens!!

Jac and the boys had a great time yesterday for their annual summer sleepover at Grandma's. LOVED seeing Toy Story 3 and listening to Easton's giggle. That was entertainment enough....and sitting in the dark theater and having Noah shout at me every 20 or 30 minutes..."Grandma, is it still morning?" I just couldn't quite convince him it wasn't midnight. They were so good though, and we had such a fun time. My purse full of spilled Nerds, popcorn and chewed gum stuck to my pen pretty much summed it up.

Things are looking good at the old homstead. The pool has been a lifesaver, the grass is green, flowers are in bloom and life is looking up despite a pair of pigeons who have nested in our chimney who act like they are from Alfred Hitchcock's movie "The Birds" and are attacking the chimney flume with beaks of steel. It sounds like someone is jackhammering on our roof, and as you all know from last years, pigeon-falling-in-the- fireplace episode, heaven forbid we try to scare them off. I like nice birds as much as the next person, but these two are killer fowl with no regard for mankind. They must be close relatives of the magpies because they have the same mean mentality. Give me a cute little quail, a sparrow or red-breasted-robin anyday and I'll throw them seeds of kindness galore. But when it come to these damn pigeons, it's poison meat time.

Well, on that note, have a nice day and remember that only you can prevent forest fires.

I'm Trapped!

As I sit here in the computer room listening to the delightful sucking sounds of the Stanley Steamer Boys, I realize I'm stuck here until they leave and I can tiptoe on wet carpet back to another room. Between Zoey's excited piddle ,(too numerous to mention), Hope's potty training mishaps, a few cola spills, Hershey bar meltdowns and various unknown stains, the carpet cleaning boys are back in town. It is interesting to note that they ALWAYS ask if you want the "protective" treatment on the carpets, which costs more than the cleaning itself. I've had it done a few times and really, I see no difference. What could they possibly come up with to protect the carpet other than a nailed-down visqueen? I mean, I think that's how they make their money by trying to get suckers like me to add on the magic treatment that is nothing more than an uknown mist they spray on the old shag.

I also feel the need to discuss a rather interesting obituary I just read. I know you're thinking, "there she goes throwing a damper on the blog", but I think it's kind of a cute idea. An 80 year old woman died and at the end of her name it had the initials PW. Kind of like noting a graduate degree or significant accomplishment. At the end of her obituary it said, "if you're wondering what the PW stands for, it stand for Precious Woman which is what her husband George called her". How cute is that?! So I've come up with a few alternative initials you might consider adding to my obituary when the time comes. I like EM for Embarrassing Mother, CJ for Clever Jac, OV for Obsessive Vacuumer or my favorite LF for Loves Family. (I had to throw in a nice one just in case you guys really take this serious.) Please DO NOT include "Loved to Shop" in the obituary. That is just a thorn in my side and not something that will help me achieve any degree of celestial glory.

Well, on that note, I hope you all have a nice day and if you happen to visit, walk softly on barefeet till this place dries out.

Sum sum summa-time

I think it's time to let you all know that this blog has become a major pain in the butt.  It's too hard to think about it when the sun is finally out!   AAAAHHHHH!  I absolutely love the sunshine and the summer and the smell of the blossoms and the cut grass and the flowers and the singing birds and the heat beating down on my skin and the water and the pool and the hot car after church and the warm nights and the beautiful sunsets and the patriotism and the parades and the fireworks and the swing and the deck and the watermelon and the lemonade and the barbecues and the crickets chirping and the shade of the box elder tree and taking naps on the grass and the sunshine and the early morning dew and driving with my windows down and not having to wear socks and flip flops, how I love flip flops and the sunglasses and the slurpees and the fresh fruit stands and the summer clothes and the fresh vegetables.  Yes, I do love summer.  It is so choice.  I feel guilty taking a nap in the summer because I don't want to waste a single minute of this commodity we call summer.  Just thought you should all know.......it makes me as happy as a jumbo jet. (2 jumbo jets actually)

GOOD GRIEF!

Oh for crying out loud, somebody needs to address the absence of any new blog entries in the past century, so I guess it has to be me. I have heard rumors that Squirrel and Whit are going to become authorized Crazy Lady bloggers which would be a godsend for MJ and Jac.

Alot has happened, mainly a fabulous all -girls trip to Oceanside, CA for 5 fun-filled days of shopping, sitting watches the waves, watching dumb videos like Pride and Prejudice..duh and walking the beach and spending way too much time in the Coach Outlet store at the Carlsbad outlets. Spent a day at Sea World where we froze our little faces off, but it was a blast and the best medicine for four lonely girls who are missing their dad and sweetheart. A BIG shout out to Jer and Russ for sacrificing their time and finagling baby sitters for 5 kids. They will never know what this trip meant to us. We are hopeful we can make it an annual tradition...so everyone start saving your money!

We are still residing in an arctic region that never has sunshine anymore, so have had thoughts of possibly filling in the pool and turning it into a nice roller skating rink. Summer has become a thing of the past...and they say we live in a desert! HA! What a joke.

Ter, Jac and MJ are now certified (sort of) contributors to the New Family History website. We met with our ward specialist and with our little laptops and MJ disgustedly waiting for Jac & Ter to even log in, we were led into the wonderful world of genealogy. Of course, MJ had moved onto advanced searches for death certificates while Ter and I watched in amazement and tried to keep up. We are discovering some duplicate work that was done for the names we were given, but we're trying to track them and get it under control.

Congrats to Canyon who turned 13 and Noah who turned a BIG FIVE!! Woo-Hoo! Birthdays galore!

Well people, take up the slack and get your stories on here fast. Space is limited and time is of the essence.

Still Nothing...

There is still nothing to post.  Nothing funny or exciting.  I am pretty sure there will be something funny tomorrow though.
In the meantime, I thought I'd post a picture I found of Aim taking her son to his first day of school.

The Boys are Back in Town

Yes it's true, "Larger Than Life" the Backstreet Boys are coming to SLC! "As Long as You Love Me" you can "Quit playing Games With my Heart" and remember that "I Want it That Way." If there are any big fans out there, we could have a night to remember. I really "Don't want to Lose You Now" so you can "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely" and go with me to what will undoubtedly be the concert of the century.

Remember all those wonderful Easter Eggs that were painstakingly hidden in the yard yesterday? What a thrill that was for everyone. Well, you can "Get Down" with the BSB's if you want to go with me "Just to be Close to You." I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it. Even if they "Don't Want you Back" it's worth every penny!

Love, Jac

Unicorns

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but Unicorns are NOT real.  I am a little disappointed that Fisher Price has chosen to include a unicorn in their adorable fairy treehouse.  I guess a fairy should cause concern as well, but that is another blog post.
Back to the unicorn.  Come on people---there are believers out there I am sure.  But I hate to break it to you.  It's probably an antelope who got the bad end of a fight with another antelope.  That's the only one horned animal out there.  Do the believers think that a narwhal came out of the water and suddenly grew 4 legs and bred with a horse?  I DON'T THINK SO.
I don't like unicorns, I have never liked unicorns, and I will never like unicorns....unless of course a niece (I hope not a nephew) suddenly becomes interested in them-I am sure I would love them too!
For one thing, they've got the name all wrong.  Uni-corn.  Shouldn't it be Uni-horn?  Where in the h-e-double hockey sticks did the corn come from???  The whole thing is just ridiculous.  The crazy looking animal, an even crazier name and people that actually believe this stuff.  What is this world coming to?  If you google the word 'unicorn' you will be shocked what you find.  There is a unicorn collector site, a unicorn lady, unicorn museum, unicorn wine, unicorn electronics.  LAME-O.
I sure hope I haven't offended any unicorn lovers that read this blog.  If I have...too stinking bad, live in the now.  Unicorns don't live here, they never have, and never will.
PHEW!

RC Willey

Does the name Paige Davis mean anything to you?
Unless you watch HGTV, you're probably drawing a blank.
Not only is she on HGTV, she is the 'star' of the new RC Willey commercials.
We have a population of almost 3 million people in Utah and RC Willey couldn't find a single person out of all those people to star in their commercials?  It's not like Paige is extraordinarily cute, or talented, or a furniture expert.  Come on, support the local economy.
I'm the first person to go to RC Willey, but geesh!
And one more thing.......how long are we going to be seeing this gal sitting on her recliner upholstered in giant houndstooth?  I swear these commercials have been ongoing for the past 3 years.  How about something new?....................Just a suggestion.

WOW, these are some great poses!

Ha ha ha, Jay Leno just said he is going to be hanging with his 'peeps' this Easter!  CUTE!

Rotisserie Chicken

This blog is becoming a little bit daunting lately.  I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the dreaded tax season.  So rest assured, I'm sure the blog will be going full steam ahead after April 15th!  (I hope).
I would like to let everyone know that I actually went to Smiths this evening (somewhere I swore I would never go again).  It was a perfectly normal experience.  I've decided the secret is to not get a shopping cart. NO!  You are much better off having a handheld basket.  No one can see what you have in your basket.  And today, it wouldn't have mattered.  Although, it is a little embarrassing to buy a Rotisserie chicken.  I've never really seen anybody buy one, and why do they put them right where everyone waiting in line watches you pick one out?  I didn't even look at the options.  I just grabbed the closest one to the edge.  And it was delicious!  After enjoying the 'suckling' (as Canyon would say) chicken, I boiled the carcass for a delicious Chicken Noodle Soup.  Dad would be proud!

What a Day!

What a day March 27, 2010 turned out to be.  It has always been a special day.  It is Jac's Birthday!!!  As someone obnoxious once said, she's "29 and some spare change".   Hardy har har har.
A new little angel also came to this world today to share Jac's special day.  Kelly finally had her baby, Brecken.  Mom has kind of had a connection from the very beginning with this little guy, so it's only appropriate that they share a birthday!
CONGRATULATIONS Kelly, Dallin, Brecken, and all the rest of your families!
I've seen pictures, and he really is cute!!!

So today was great.  The whole family was here and we had a fairly typical birthday bash.  It involved Jac and Whit going to a Broadway play---yuck.  Aim made a delicious homemade rum cake---yum.  Unfortunately it was only rum flavoring.  But still delicious nonetheless.  And our first trip to Cowboy Grub without Dad.  I'm glad we got that one under our belt, because I've gotta say "the Grub" as we like to call it is somewhere you just can't go wrong.  All their food is so choice!  Shout out to the Big Monty!  And you've gotta love the circus like atmosphere of the revolving horse merry-go-round.  Even 12 (almost 13) year olds love the horses!
It's always so fun to have the whole family here.  It's especially fun to see what treasures we find after they leave.  Here is just a sampling.  YES, that is what you think it is in the bathtub.  Yes, there is one unwrapped.  And, YES, that is a giant football in my bathroom.  Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of my contacts and prescription pills in the garbage can.  You gotta love those adorable nephews and niece.  They are truly the best nephews and niece in the world.  I wouldn't change a single one of them.  They are my angels.

That is a hound.

Dillards

I spent way too much time at Dillards this evening.  The fun part was exchanging a birthday gift (eau de parfum) for a different variety that wouldn't give me a headache.
There were quite a few funny things that happened during this outing.  The first thing was I looked in the accessory department for a cute leather flower, but to my dismay, they only carried cheap silk flowers.  I guess only the higher end stores carry the leather.  Then on to the perfume counter.  First imagine me being at the perfume counter.  This is comparable to Shamu wandering in the Sahara.  (get it, 'fish out of water')?  I am totally out of place.  The lady tried to convince me that I should get the new Beyonce' fragrance because it comes with a FREE handbag-----Are you kidding me?  It was Pleather!  NO THANKS!  After choosing a totally awesome new fragrance, I moved on to the shoe department.  Since when did it become commonplace to try on shoes for prom WHILE wearing your prom dress?  To me this was a little odd, but nobody else seemed to be bothered by it, so I moved on.
I had to try to find some new earrings, and the 100 year old woman wearing a wig that was the only lady working in the jewelry department was following me around like a hawk.  I know she thought I was going to steal something, so I purposely looked longer.  She was hysterical (but not really, she had no sense of humor, but maybe she just couldn't hear me).   She had round glasses that looked like a 100 year old Velma from Scooby Doo.
Then I found a sweet Lucky wallet.  When I got to the car to peruse my purchases, I opened the wallet to find that it had obviously been owned by somebody before me.  It had a temple recommend inside of it, along with some quilt store punch cards.  The recommend was pretty new and had some good months of use left on it.  After a little research, I have found the owner of the recommend and I will mail it to her.  It must be fate.
That sums up my trip to Dillards.  A good time was had by all, uh me.
I guess that was lame....who really cares anyway......booorrrrriiiinnnngggg.

Leather Flower

I went on a weekend shopping trip with my mom and sisters.  It was long.  I was officially "shopped out" at least 2 hours before they even considered the term.  There were many good deals, but the best deal was a leather flower at Fossil.  In fact, it was such a good deal, I was pretty much sure that both my sisters AND my mom would be purchasing the same leather flower once they saw MY leather flower.  This particular flower was MORE than half off.  It was originally $30.00---That is a little pricey, but for how cute it was, I just might consider it because, of course, it is LEATHER!  But to make the deal even better, it was only $12.49.  Yup, that's right!  A killer deal for such a fine item.  As I excitedly pulled the leather flower from my bag (in the middle of Old Navy) they were both 'shocked' that I would spend 'so much money' on this item.  One sister said, "I can't believe the things you spend your money on."  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?  This was a killer deal, after all, it is leather.  Another sister commented, 'why didn't you just go to Claire's?'.  How rude!  I don't want a PLEATHER flower---this one is classy---did I mention it's leather?  OH, and one more thing....I didn't just purchase one leather flower---NOPE, I bought TWO!!  (In the back of my mind I thought that I could possibly give one of them as a gift to either of my sisters or mom.  But after the comments and reaction-NO WAY!  They are both mine!)
Well, needless to say, not one of the women in the shopping party went next door to purchase a leather flower.  (their loss).
Today as I was getting ready for church, I made sure to wear an outfit that I could proudly display my new leather flower.
Let me just say that I've never had so many comments.  I would say at least 8 people commented on my flower and most of them even asked, "is it leather?"  Oh yes, of course it's leather.  Why would I want a second class pleather flower?
It sure was fun to have such a frivilous item, and at such a bargain.  I left the yellow sitting in the Fossil store, but am considering making a trip just for one more leather flower.  After the response today, I KNOW I made the better choice.  Me and my leather flower were a hit in the 2nd ward Relief Society.
Sorry girls, you had your chance.

Stumped

I have absolutely no idea what to blog about.  I considered posting about Janet Jackson and her cheeks (on her face).  They are unusually round and large, I can't imagine they are real.  They've got to be implants.  But that isn't a fun topic.  Then I considered Zoey's new haircut.  But that's not exciting OR funny.  So I've got to be honest.  I am STUMPED!  I don't have anything funny or crazy to say.  I'm sorry.
I'm stumped!  (if you say it alot, it starts to sound funny)

Brighton Soccer Moms

After just returning from the first game of the soccer season, I have some thoughts on the modern day mom of today's teenagers. There seems to be alot of very thin, yet well endowed moms who dress like they are 16. You know they are an official soccer mom if they are wearing very tight, jeweled pocket 7 Jeans, high heels and an Ed Hardy shirt. The heavy jeweled necklaces that are the rave are also a soccer mom staple and the larger the pendant the bigger their status seems to be. I don't know if this is just a Brighton thing or if it is the same in other high schools.

Whit and I were discussing this on the way home, and she sasked what I would do if I were a mom of a teenager today. Well, after some thought, I think I would probably do my darndest to fit in with the Kathy McNeil's and Jan Fletcher's I would sitting next to, but somehow with age has come a big desire to be dressed comfortably more than anything. So I think I would wear my boot cut levis, a nice Life is Good t-shirt, and some color-coordinated New Balance slip-ons to complete my ensemble. And of course there would be a bright orange Brighton Soccer logo'ed sweatshirt tied limply around my neck enhancing my preppy look. And I would bat my newly acquired LiLash enhanced lashes and give the world my best smile.....Now THAT is my idea of a real Brighton Mom!!

The Drama

I've got to hand it to all the believers of the 1800's drama.  You are truly passionate about your cause.  Your opinions have been heard.  The descriptions were eloquent and lengthy.  But I still think you are wrong.
Sorry.
This is a representation of me and my sisters in the 'romantic' era.  Bet you can't guess which one is me...
This picture gives 'snuggie' a whole new meaning.  Both Front & Back!

The 1800's

Unlike my sisters, I don't have a love of era's of the past.
I have NO desire to live in that time.  Why?  Why would you want to wear a dress that weighs 50 pounds, and has pantaloons?
There is a reason that they lived in that time and we don't.  We now have technological advances that make it unnecessary to live in those impoverished times.
Maybe they need to be reminded that you didn't flip a switch to have the light come on.  They didn't have instant warm water.  There were no hair dryers or curling irons.  Everyone had hairy legs.  There was no Lady Speed Stick, or Paul Mitchell.  You would have had to sew your own clothing,  AND underwear.  Make your own rugs, make dinner every night (without a microwave).  Pluck your own chickens, collect your own milk from a cow TEET!
I just think maybe it's time for a wake-up call.  We live in the 2000's. We are blessed!  Aside from a few earthquakes and identity theft, BE GRATEFUL!   This just isn't as glamorous as you think.  Trust me.

A waste of a half hour

I completely wasted an entire half of an hour today.  As I sat in the family room with Jac, who was flipping through the channels, she often stops on shows that I wouldn't dream of giving a second look.  I try not to complain, but just continue playing my game on the iphone.
Well, tonight I need to complain.
There was an actual show made up of 4 "experts" that were reviewing last weeks Oscar attire.  Are you kidding me????  The panel consisted of Joan Rivers, Khloe Kardashian, A flamboyant gay man and a fake blonde skinny girl.
I know, I thought the same thing.....since when is Khloe Kardashian a fashionista?
They actually each took turns discussing different dresses and bowties.  They made fun of people, offered praise, advice, gave hints and generally made themselves look like materialistic snobs.  Now I realize that I've already posted about my distaste for the "red carpet" and the Oscars in general, but I guess I just need to reiterate how purely wasteful this type of television is.
It actually became painful.  I find it a little odd to hear a feminine man voice saying to Joan Rivers, "you are wrong.  I absolutely LOVED that dress.  I wish I could have worn that dress".  And Joan has genuine frustration at him wanting to sway his opinion-it was actually causing her distress.  All this was over a DRESS!!!  Then the same thing happened regarding a bowtie.  About how it was too skinny, and that someone actually wore a 'dinner jacket'.  Oh and heaven forbid the poor girl that didn't have any jewelry.  She was just too plain.
And Sigourney Weaver, she is just so predictable with her gowns....."she has a great body, but she just isn't showing it off".  Oh Brother!  Gag me.
Then there was the disagreement of whether George Clooney needs a haircut or not.  Khloe believes he needs a haircut, but Joan loves his hair.  But somebody's hair was too spiky, it needs to be toned down for the Oscars.  They were surprised because he usually understands the formality of the Oscars, but not this year.  Then it was the vampire boys turn-skinny blonde lady thinks he looked "perfect", but flamboyant gay man thought it was 'boring'.  And NEVER wear tennis shoes.  It is not appropriate.  Patent Leather is classic.
AAAAAHHHHHH
Oh, and one last thing.  Men, when you are getting out of the limousine, be sure to pull your jackets down, they have a tendency to ride up and STAY up....GASP!
I am disgusted.

Bathtub

I just hopped in the bathtub to warm up because I was FREEZING.  I quickly realized that there is an upside to being a large woman like myself.  I use less water in the tub!
When I am in there, is becomes almost overflowing, but when I get out, there's really only a few inches of water.
I know that this is some kind of a scientific law.  Something about displacement maybe?  I don't know, but I'm just saving us money on our water bill.
Something to think about.  You know me, always looking for the bright side!

Pumps

I have a gnawing question.  (I have to admit it was inspired by the excellent sardine picture).
What is a pump.  Now I know that it is a high heel shoe, but I always thought it was a "not too high" heel shoe.  Like I always assumed it was an inch or less.  But I have heard some people refer to some VERY high heeled shoes as 'pumps'.  This has bothered me.
When I was in high school (like a freshman or sophomore) Payless Shoe Source came out with these 'dyeable' pumps.  They started bright white satin, but you could dye them to match your dress exactly.  I secretly always wanted to get some dyeable shoes for a dance.  Looking back, they were HIDEOUS!  I am so glad I didn't fall for that fashion disaster.
I had a friend that got some dyeable shoes and at the end of the night, her feet were the same color as her shoes....turquoise!
So, back to the topic of pumps.  I would like to know your opinion of 'pumps'.  I still believe they can't be called 'pumps' if they are over a one (maybe 1 1/2)  inch heel.
I just remembered that one year for Halloween, I was Carmen Miranda and I had some green dyeable pumps that I bought at Savers.  They were like new.  Probably because whoever bought them was too embarrassed to wear them.  I guess I did get my dyeable pumps!
That puts a smile on my face.

Best Picture Ever

I was so proud of last nights picture, that I know there is no way to follow that up, so for today's post, I am going to repost that picture, so you can all admire it a little more.  It is so choice.

Little Fishes

Has anyone ever actually tasted a sardine?  How about an anchovie?  What's the difference in a sardine and an anchovie?  I'll bet they are the same thing.  Probably the sardine is the adult  and the anchovie is like the guppy.
I think it is a joke that people actually put them on their pizza.  It's probably like telling people to go to the end of the hall at Brighton High School.  There is no end...it's a circle.  DUH!  There are some people out there who think it sounds cool to say "I want anchovies on my pizza", but inside they really hate it.
I remember dad liked to eat Kipper Snacks. . . .I think that's what they were called.  Anyhow, he once ate them while we were backpacking and they smelled HORRIBLE----then, if it wasn't bad enough, he ate it with a raw onion...YUCK!  He did this more than once, so I don't think he was just trying to be cool.
The other thing about these kind of 'canned' little fish is I don't think they ever go bad.  I know we had some that sat in our cupboard for years, and they supposedly never expired.  They are probably really good for food storage.
I would really like to know if any of you have actually chewed AND swallowed a sardine, an anchovie, or a kipper snack.
The fact that they sell them at Big Lots in the clearance section tells me that they aren't the most popular item in the grocery store.
The tweedlebugs used a sardine can for a bed, or wait, maybe it was a matchbox.  I know they used a sardine can for something.  Those tweedlebugs were ingenious.

Zits

Have you ever had a zit inside of your ear?  How about right inside your nose.  It just makes your eyes water. . . . .and they hurt like heck.  It has made me wonder.  I wonder, if we get zits in those odd places, do you think we get them inside, like a kidney zit?  Or on your bladder, intestines, brain?  It is something I often wonder.  What about those teenagers with major breakouts, just think of their insides.  I'm sure they are a mess!
Do pets get zits?  I've never noticed any on Zoey, but she is pretty furry.
I only bring this up because Stacie Witbeck had a zit right in the middle of her forehead yesterday and of course I noticed it.  Because of course, I never get any zits, so I can make fun of others!
How did they get the name "zit"?  Pimple, blemish, acne, none of these words even come close to sounding like "zit".  Weird, maybe the first person to ever get one was named 'zit'izen Kane.
Maybe someone thought that eating ziti was the cause of their 'blemishes'.
Makes you wonder, doesn't it?
Zits are disgusting.

We're baaack

The Academy Awards are lame.
I admit, I don't go to movies, but who's even heard of half of these movies?  I don't even think they show these movies in Utah theaters.  Does a comedy ever win an award?  It's so dramatic.
These people need to grow up.  They think they are going to Junior Prom or something.
And why do they call it an Oscar?  Isn't this the Academy Awards?  Shouldn't it be called an "Acad", or an "AA", or an "Demy".  Oscar just doesn't make sense.
As if these people need more attention, and more camera time.
Besides all of that, it's just really boring.
I just look at all the money spent for this 2 hour woop-ta-do and can only imagine how much better that money could have been spent.
We all know you are wonderful.  We have all seen your face.  We have all seen you in a tuxedo.  We have all seen you in a thousand different Vera Wang gowns.  If we wanted to see more of you, we would actually go see your movie.  Which is probably depressing and has accents that we can't understand.  There's also a pretty good chance it's going to have subtitles too.
Well, at least it's only once a year, but with all the other awards shows, it sure seems like there is one on almost every other week.
I happen to know that there are some people that really enjoy this prestigious event, so I will stop my complaining.
I'm sure I could find some good aspects of this show.  Like, well I can't think of any right now.
This is a TRUE Oscar!

Edit:  Oh good grief, right after I had click publish post, I "accidently" flipped the channel to the Academy Awards and there is Oprah.  Good Grief!  It just keeps getting worse.  Oh, let's get Oprah, we don't see enough of her!

Edit #2:  What in the world?  Barbara Streisand?  Is she still alive?

Hiatus

Just thought I should let the public know that the 2 Crazy Ladies blog is on temporary hiatus until a Relief Society lesson has been given.
I'm sure you are all anxiously awaiting the next post, but it will come only after the lesson has been prepared and presented.

Hair

In case none of you have noticed, I have curly hair.  It's not a perm.  For as long as I can remember I have wanted to have straight hair.  I figure I have wasted the equivalent of approximately 96 days of my life straightening my hair with a blowdryer.  That is until one Halloween day about 6 years ago.  I had a moment of enlightenment.  Why was I wasting so much time on my hair?  If I straightened it in the morning, it was always wavy and frizzy by 2:00.  I could never drive down the canyon with the window down.  This was idiotic.  If people didn't like me with curly hair, I really don't care!
This has been my attitude ever since.
Curly hair can be a blessing and a curse.  The blessing is that it's VERY easy to do.  If you wake up late, all you need is a spray bottle to liven up your curly locks.  If it's raining or humid.....no worries.  What's going to happen?  Is my hair going to go curly?  Oh well-don't care!
Another blessing is that I no longer have split ends!  My hair is much healthier.
The curse is that you can never really have decent straight hair which is usually the fashionable style to have.  Sure you can pay to have it professionally straightened, but it really only looks good until you wash it.  And then your hair is dry and damaged and has split ends.
When people say, they wish they had curly hair, they really don't know what they are talking about.  Do they want hair that you can't run your fingers through?  Hair that your niece can't brush because it hurts like h-e-double hockey sticks?  Hair that never looks cute in any type of a braid?  If you do try to braid it, you always get hundreds of little flyaway curly hairs that looks like the person doing the braid didn't know what they were doing.  Do they really want hair that has the potential to poof up to twice the size of your head?......I don't think so.  Maybe people should think before they speak.
I'm not as negative about my curly hair as I once was.  I no longer care if my hair looks like every other single person in my school.  I don't care that when I wake up in the morning I scare people.  I am now accepting of my hair and am glad that all I need is a little LA Looks (light blue CURL) gel to get ready in the morning.
It could always be worse!

Eggs

Since Easter is fast approaching I was thinking about eggs.  I thought about Jesus too, but this post is about eggs....sorry.
I have never had a problem with eggs, but the more I think about them, they are gross.  I mean, if you really think about what an egg is...eewww.  And what ever possessed some ancient person to see a white oval sphere come out of a chickens rear end and think it might be a good idea to eat it?  OK, maybe I could see considering eating it, but once you cracked it open I would think that sight would have changed your mind.  The consistency of snot alone even without the more hideous yellow middle (yolk).  I just cant understand this.
Grandma and Grandpa had brown eggs.  Dad always said there was no difference, but I swear they taste different.  They actually taste bird-like.  I can almost taste the grain that chicken had for lunch.
I'm not on a strike against eggs, and I'm sure I will eat them again, but next time I do I will be more aware of exactly what it is that I am eating......an unfertilized embryo!

Tsunami

I wasted my morning waiting and watching for a tsunami to hit Hawaii.  It's not that I wanted to see a horrible catastrophe.  I really didn't want anyone to be injured or killed.  I just thought it would be fun to see some killer waves, or suddenly see all the birds fly to higher ground, or see the whales and dolphins suddenly start frolicking.  Just something exciting.  Fortunately it was a dud.  I am just shocked with all the buoys out floating in the ocean and the science and technology that we have today, the Oceanographers aren't able to more accurately predict this whole tsunami thing.  I mean, the entire state of Hawaii was evacuated from the shoreline.  They closed roads, and airports, and t-shirt shops.  I can't think of a better place to have to be stuck.  The views on TV were gorgeous, so I guess it wasn't a total loss.  I am very glad to know that my little piece of heaven, Ke'e beach, is still intact.

Not a good idea

I just found this picture and think that due to recent horrific events, maybe this stuffed animal hat company needs to rethink its "killer" product....

DUH!

Have you ever heard of Daniel Rona?  Me neither.  He thinks he is a big deal.  He is not.
At this point, it doesn't really matter.  All that matters is that I have my first relief society activity under my belt.  Terri has a tear in her favorite shirt, and I know nothing more about protecting my identity than I did 5 hours ago.
What a joke.

Goofy Dreams

I know we all have some pretty funny dreams, and it's especially interesting when we have the same ones over and over. I just thought I would share a re-occuring dream I have maybe 2 - 3 times a week. Perhaps those of you with some psychological training could shed some insight.

I always start out downtown in an area that doesn't really exist, but is the same in every dream and I am trying to get home and I am always riding a bike. I have a "shortcut" I take through the Olympus Hills area and up through the mountains, but the terrain is steep and I am huffing and puffing thinking, "Here I am on this damn bike again..." I'm not walking and heaven forbid there is a car available, I'm just always pedaling as fast as I can. Nobody is ever with me, but I'm on the same path and see the same mansion houses along my way. Last night one of the houses was having a big BBQ in their backyard where my path goes, and I was saying, "Sorry, oops, sorry to get in your way." And everyone seemed pretty annoyed at the crazy lady on the bike. I'm sure they have seen me go through their neighborhood several times and they are on the lookout for the Lunatic on Wheels. I come out on Wasatch Boulevard and head down through some sagebrush fields to get to the Old Mill area and up the big hill. What's with the bike? I mean there must be some underlying experience I had riding my bike 30 miles back and forth from Murray Park in my younger days. I don't repeat dreams except this one. How lame is that?! Anybody have any good dreams they want to share with the Crazy Ladies?

THANKS!!!

Happy Birthday to me!  What an awesome day it was.  I seriously think every single person I know either commented on facebook, texted, called, visited, sent cards, or gave me a gift.  I am the luckiest girl!  I was taken to lunch, had balloons tied to my car, given gifts, given giftcards, sung to, taken to dinner, had a "nothin bundt cake"....even dogs were in on the action.  It was truly wonderful.  I would say perfect, but someone was missing and that sucked!  It was my first birthday without dad but everybody made such an effort to make it such a wonderful day.   THANK YOU!  I appreciate everything that you have all done for me today.  Yes, I am getting Old!  Birthdays are becoming not quite as fun as they used to be.  I really am starting to feel closer to geezerhood.  Oh well, I am SO blessed.  Thanks again to all of you who made this day awesome!

Today

I went to Springville today.  It was colder than the North Pole.  It's fun to see aunts and uncles and cousins.  I got to go with just my sister Aimee.  It's fun to spend time with her.  I love both my sisters.  I love my mom.  I miss my dad.  I adore my niece and nephews.  I have the best family ever!

The Funny Pages

Did you know that the newspaper still has the funny pages?  Today I was eating my dinner and the only thing on the counter was the newspaper.  Inside I was SO surprised to see the comics.  For just a moment, I wished I had some silly putty.  They are so full of color and I used to think that was all the comics were good for......making pictures in your silly putty.
Needless to say, I didn't have any silly putty, so I meandered through the pages.  First of all, the comics look just the same.  However, the content is NOT the same.  There are about 100 different titles-(ok, actually about 25).  Most of them I don't recognize.  But since there are so many they are all VERY tiny.   Like I'm talking 2 inches high by 4 inches wide.  I don't need bifocals yet, but I'm just thinking that anyone over the age of 40 would struggle to read these things.  There are a few that are still a good size (I wonder who decides which ones get to be big?)
Anyhew...there are still the usual comics....Family Circus with a serious commentary on kids and family life.  Garfield, still afraid of dogs.  Cathy...still depressed about her weight.  The Wizard of Id, still living in their castle.  Foxtrot....still 2 annoying little kids.  Snoopy....Lucy still torturing Charlie Brown.  Spider-Man, still too many words so I avoid reading it.  Ziggy....still laying on the Psychiatrists couch.

It was a surprise to see this today, but I have to admit that I probably wont be reading them again for another 25 years.  They weren't very funny.  I do like that artistic-ness of them, but still.....
I just thought you should all know that the comics are still alive and well.

I'm sorry, but this just isn't that funny to me.

This is kind of funny....I guess.

Dear Editor

Dear KSL Editor (or webmaster),
Would you please not post the results of all the olympics events on your homepage before they appear on television.  Wouldn't it be better for you ratings if we didn't have the results blaring in our faces every time we click on your website (which happens to be my homepage)?
It might encourage me to actually watch the event on television rather than change the channel because I already know the outcome.  Maybe you could even just use a smaller font, so the result wasn't YELLING when I glance at a headline.  Or an even better idea.... a button I could click if I actually WANTED to know the results in advance.
Just a thought.  I'm starting to think Bob Costas, Mary Carillo, and Dick Buttons might as well just leave Vancouver tonight.  We don't even need them.  They are always reporting everything a day late and a dollar short.  Sad but true.
Dumb KSL.

My Very Smart Car

I love my car. It has every feature I could ever want in a vehicle, and I consider it to be a smart car. No, not like an environmentally "smart" car, (there is no"coexist" bumper sticker on it), it is just exceptionally brilliant in the car world. It beeps a different beep if I am too close to something anywhere around the car...a protective shield you might call it. I can talk on my phone through the radio and it knows when certain driving lights should go on or off. It also knows when the person sitting in the passenger seat isn't wearing their seat belt. It gives you 20 seconds to get that seatbelt snugged in tight until you get your polite beep reminder. MJ is all too familiar with this feature, and not too fond of it I might add.
Yesterday as I was running many errands the only place left in my car to put my 3 cases of ZERO water was on the front seat, and yes, you guessed it the beep came on and I had to pull over to belt in my highly prized water. I must admit I felt a little silly and hoped no one was watching, but it does make one wonder, does a human bottom feel the same on the seat as a piece of flat cardboard, or most probably there is a weight limit which also makes you wonder who weighs the most....the product or the passenger? At what weight limit does the buzzer go off? Is there a sensor somewhere secreting calculating the weight of my friends and purchases? Just the word "sensor" scares me....there's just alot of unknown there. Well, that's my story and the fact that it was important enough to make the blog is a sad commentary on my life.

Five Times!!!

As most of you know, I pretty much live my life within a 1 mile radius.  I work about 500 yards away from home.  All the grocery stores and gas stations are within approximately 1 mile.  The gas station, about 100 yards.  But today, I ventured an additional mile outside of my radius and went to lunch at Zupas.  While I was there, I overheard 3 separate conversations discussing Shaun White.  He is quite literally the talk of the town!  Then at work, he was discussed.  And THEN, we discussed him at home.  WOW!   Five times....Five times???   Five times!!!
But really, he is amazing.  I just think it is so ridiculous that they call him the 'Flying Tomato'.  There is nothing good about a flying tomato.  That nickname belongs with a figure skater.  It is more fitting for that sport.  Actually a pairs figure skater would be better.  The man could be the tomato launcher, and the woman would be the flying tomato.  Anyway, thats beside the point.  He needs something that is amazing!  He really is so much better at what he does than everybody else.
WOAH!!! THIS IS WEIRD......LIKE VERGING ON BREAKING NEWS.  As I am typing this, I am watching the 12:00am wrap-up of the Olympics and Shaun White is being interviewed and they are talking about the "Flying Tomato" nickname.  Shaun just said he doesn't like that nickname.   I KNEW IT!!  I knew it was stupid!  HA!
Man-that is freaking weird!  What are the odds that I would be typing that and it comes on the TV!  It's just fate I guess.
Anyhew- he is quite an unusual looking guy.  He could actually be a girl with a little make-up.  Oh well, it doesn't really matter.  He has a gold medal so he can look however he darn well pleases.
Hasta la vista!

An Oddity

Don't ask me why, but today I went back to Smiths.  We went for lunch to try and eat a little healthier.  We got the usual....carrot sticks, baked chips and salsa, and of course-bottled water.  Nothing to feel bad about in my cart this time!!!  But the CRAZIEST thing happened.  (I didn't see a single person I know, probably because it was the middle of the day.)  Ok, but that's not the crazy thing......the crazy thing is this---I noticed this perfectly normal looking white lady with a big black dot kind of a smudgey looking thing on her forehead.  I just figured she was probably an India Indian but just didn't quite have the usual look.  So that was a little strange and I continued to the other side of the store.....when to my surprise, I see a REAL India Indian couple (a very typical India Indian man and woman) with a black smudgey mark on their forehead.  My first thought was....The Dharma Project.  I tried to find Cindy to see if she saw the same thing I was seeing.  I was trying to discreetly say look at that woman--no to your left--no behind you.  I don't think she ever saw.  Then I saw the India Indian couple again and I think Cindy saw this time, but she didn't seem to be quite as interested as I was.  So right at that moment, I seriously thought to myself that maybe I was the only one that could see these black smudges on their foreheads.  So then I thought they must all 3 be shopping together, but then I saw them pass in the store and they OBVIOUSLY didn't know one another.  THEY WERE NOT EVEN TOGETHER!!!   I was really bothered and had to force myself not to think about it.  I just kept thinking... "what are the odds of seeing 3 separate individuals all with the same weird mark.  It really frustrated me that I didn't understand.  I seriously considered asking the woman, but just didn't quite know how.  Even the bagger didn't seem to notice this big black smudge on her forehead.  He just bagged those groceries like it was normal.
Oooh, it really bothered me.
Eventually I forced myself to move on and 'forget' about it.
Finally I came home from work and turned on the news and IMMEDIATELY saw Joe Biden with the same black smudgy mark on his forehead.  What the #$%@#*%*.......I couldn't believe my eyes.  I literally laughed out loud because this was so freaking weird.  Come to find out its ASH Wednesday!
DUH!  Of course, I should have known that it is perfectly normal to have a black smudge of ash on your forehead.  Are you kidding me?????  In all my years I have NEVER heard of this.  I'm sure it has special meaning but, I really don't understand (and don't really care to know).  Just being honest!
